SMOKE DETECTORS
*Smoke Detector Shopping tip: Check with your local fire marshal for any municiple codes in your area.
When choosing a smoke detector, you will need to decide if you need a battery operated, hardwired, or a hardwired with battery backup model.
You will also need to decide if you need an ionization or photoelectric smoke detector. Ionization tests smoke chemically and is more sensitive to small particles. Photoelectric tests with an infrared scan for large particles in the air. Photoelectric alarms are usually preferred in areas prone to nuisance alarms such as the kitchen.
